Looking at the monastery from the driveway entrance. The main structure is behind the trees to the right of the arched entryway. The pickup belongs to the abbott and was donated by a Thai benefactor. It's one of just a handful of cars on the island -- most transport is by oxcart (which is how Yu Yu got here the last time she visited). (Postscript 4-29-05: The pickup got confiscated by the Burmese gov't for "being improperly tagged for a foreign-donated vehicle"; a bogus law made up on the spot to "justify" their action.)
